Batman & Catwoman 2-Pack

Batman & Catwoman 2-Pack

There are enough Batman goodies coming out over the next few months to fill a Batcave! We will have a look at some of the forthcoming movie oriented merchandise in the coming weeks, but for now we will content ourselves with this fine 2-Pack based on the characters from the 2011 Rocksteady Studios video game: Arkham City.
There are several toy lines based on the game. Although advertised as "Adult Collector", Mattel's range is probably the most kid-oriented line - compared with the amazing DC Direct series, Play Arts figures and of course Order66ToyStore's favourite line Sideshow/Hot Toys!

There are two versions of this pack, the standard one and the black & white variant which is based on the promotional images released for the game. The coloured version is arguably the better of the two, however the B&W variant is a little rarer which is always popular with collectors.

The Catwoman figure is all new and features 19 points of articulation. The ball jointed head does have limited movement due to the collar of her suit. And the ball jointed legs and swivel knees also have restricted movement which hinders posing our favourite feline loving friend in dynamic positions.

That aside this is still a fantastic figure, Catwoman looks stunning. The figure is beautifully detailed. The textures used to replicate the fabric of her cat-suit are evident, the detailing around the cowl and knee high boots is crisp and you can even see the weave in the whip - which is made from a flexible plastic that can be wrapped around her waist.

The paint application on the coloured version shows up the zip, buckles and necklace much better than B&W variant. These little touches definitely add to the realism, though it would have been nice if the goggles were removable.

The Batman figure is effectively the same figure that appeared with Two-Face in an earlier 2-Pack albeit with a slightly different paint job.

It's still a great figure and the new colour scheme used for this version works better than it's predecessor. The articulation is, like the Catwoman figure, DC Universe standard but again if there is one criticism the range of movement is fairly limited.

The sculpt is excellant, every sinew of muscle is detailed, the flowing cape is nicely sculpted and the grimace on Batman's face is unmistakable.

The gloves and boots are made from a more rubbery type of plastic which works perfectly as they appear leather-like in comparison with the rest of his costume. The Bat symbol on his chest is textured differently too - little touches like these make these two figures a must for any Batman fan.

It will be interesting to see how the DC Direct Catwoman compares. The DC Direct figures have fewer points of articulation, but are so incredibly well sculpted, detailed and painted.

Both the standard 2-Pack and B&W 2-Pack are available at www.ordersixtysixtoys.co.uk now, priced £34.99.
